Underwater housings for photo and video cameras

Video camera housings

Realizing good underwater movies or pictures starts from using an appropriate and comfortable housing. Also the most performing photo and video cameras, never let you achieve the expected results, if used in too heavy housing.

Fighting with buoyancy will make smooth recording and stable taking pictures impossible. The use of floats can improve the situation, but is not comfortable.

For our housing, we chose a round cross design, so as to obtain neutral buoyancy just by chosing properly the lenght. The round shape also gives our housing maximum strenght at minimum weight (very important when carried on airplanes).

Video light heads are mounted on the arms of different lengths directly to the housing or on the holders. Batteries are placed under the housing base, increasing the stability of the whole system.

Light weight (heads, batteries, arms) is included in the neutral buoyancy of all set.

More:

We manufacture housings for all types of video cameras, from small to large and professional (including RED).

  • Ports

As a standard we use the flat ports. With such construction it is possible to mount threaded outlets for wet converters. They can be installed as needed, under water as well. Housing with threaded port can be matched to converters, such as Innon UWL100, Ikelite. Flat ports are suitable for setting underwater filters (eg. red), size 3.6". Optionally we assemble dome ports, made of polycarbonate or optical glass. It is an excellent and necessary solution if the camera with a wide angle is additionally equipped with wide-angle converter.

  • Steering

We use electronic controls in our housings only. Buttons are balanced, steering the magnetic field and the external water pressure cannot cause self-switching. There are no passages through the housing, so there are no leakage problems. Functions available under water depend on the camera type. Frequently they are: on / off recording, zoom, tele, wide, photo, white balance, manual focus / auto focus, turning on the camera. If you change the camera for another model or another company camera, that physically fits to the housing, there is no need to change the housing, but only adjusting the steering.

  • Camera mounting

The camera is attached to a special "sledge" with a screw with photo thread, fitting the original camera thread. "Sledge" location in the housing can be changed, so the camera lens can be set right at the glass port, regardless of whether it is the original camera lens, filter or the wide converter.

  • Monitor

The housing is equipped with LCD monitor 4", mounted on the rear cover of the housing, supplied with its own built-in batteries, which makes it completely independent from the camera. On the housing there is a switch for the monitor. In some camera models, it is possible coupling the monitor with the camera. If a hermetic outlet is mounted on the housing, it is possible to transmit the video signal to the surface, up to 200 meters. Optionally, the LCD monitor can be installed on the outside of the housing. Then it is attached by a hinge, in a separate housing, with its own batteries. Then it is connected to the housing with a cable and hermetic connector.

  • Working depth

Typical housings are designed to operate at a depth of 100 meters. Maximum depth for the dome ports is 60 - 100 m, depending on the manufacturer. We also manufacture housings that can operate deeper, but only with a flat port.

  • Moisture sensor

Acoustic sensor placed in the lower part of the housing indicates moisture appearing inside the housing.
